Hello! My name is Meghana Roy Peddoddi and I am a junior double majoring in Honors Biochemistry and Global Health with certificates in Biocore and Health Policy. I was born in India and moved to the United States when I was a few months old, bouncing from Rhode Island to Michigan, Connecticut, and ultimately Wisconsin to live in the Milwaukee suburbs. My family has an interesting background; my dad had a fairly nontraditional upbringing given that he grew up partially Hindu but predominantly Protestant, while my mom grew up a devout Hindu. Understanding their backgrounds and where I contextually fit into it has been something I’ve grappled with my whole childhood. However, my personal connection to my faith remains strong with my mom raising me and my younger brother to be Hindu. Overall, I’m excited to be part of the Center for Interfaith Dialogue this year and mingle with people of different backgrounds to discuss present-day issues of value, which is especially important given the significance of maintaining interfaith relations on campus. I also want to become more educated on religious nuances, learning about how faith often transcends borders, just as it did for my own family.
